Show Dates: May 30 - July 26, 2015
The Bennington is pleased to invite the members of the Salmagundi Club to submit work for a juried show that we will host this summer. In the past 25 years, in addition to exhibitions that we have curated such as Art of the Animal Kingdom, Artists for the New Century and the Laumeister Fine Art Competition we have hosted the Oil Painters of America, the American Watercolor Society, Allied Artists of America and the California Art Club , just to name a few. We have a great deal of respect for the talent of members of the Salmagundi Club and we are looking forward to sharing the group's talents with the residents and visitors of Southwestern Vermont.
Representational work completed in the last two years is to be submitted as JPEG files via the form below. The artwork must be completed in a fine art medium such as oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, graphite, photography and bronze and finished and framed in a way that is ready to be exhibited in a fine art show. Two pieces can be submitted by each artist with no jury fee. There is a $15 fee for each additional piece. Three-dimensional pieces must have at least two views.
Note that once you have submitted work you will receive multiple confirmations. You will receive a short thank you with additional instructions upon the completion of each step. You will then receive a personalized email when your submission has been processed. If you do not receive an email thanking your for your submission, please contact us to verify that we have indeed received it. Images must be received by midnight on Saturday, April 25.
Notification of Acceptance
The exhibition will be juried by Shirley Hutchins and Elizabeth Small, Gallery Director and Curator of The Bennington respectively. All artists that have submitted work will receive a list of accepted pieces by the end of April. Information on shipping and detailed show information will be included in the email for those whose work is selected.
Shipping and Insurance
All accepted artwork will need to arrive at the Center between the dates of May 18 - 22. Artists are responsible for shipping. All artwork will be insured from the time of its arrival until it is returned or sent to the buyer at the conclusion of the show.
All two-dimensional work must be shipped in Airfloat containers. Should you not send your 2D artwork in Airfloat containers we will request a $35 handling fee.
The sales price of the artwork will be set by you. The Center will retain 40% of the price of two-dimensional work and 30% of the price of three-dimensional work. Please note that from the date the piece has been juried into the show and through the show's conclusion, any sale of that piece must be made through the Center with the Center retaining commission. The sale must be made with the understanding that the piece will remain with the show until its conclusion. (Bronzes with multiple editions available are the exception to this.)
An opening reception and dinner is scheduled for the Salmagundi Club in Vermont as well as for the center's other spring shows which include the 20th Art of the Animal Kingdom and the Small Works Show. This will take place June 6, 2015. Details will be sent out to artists and included on our website.
Please email Shirley Hutchins (Shirley@TheBennington.org) if you have any questions. We do hope you will be able to submit work for this exciting event and hopefully see the show this summer in Vermont.
